HAGEN has been a major contributor to modernizing the University of Guelph's Veterinary College research capabilities. The HAGEN AquaLab is a state-of -the-science aquatic research facility that enable research on the extremely wide variety of aquatic organisms. Habitats as diverse as the Arctic Ocean and a tropical rain forest pool can be simulated by the environmentally controlled chambers and rooms in Aqualab. The HAGEN Aqualab includes four major components, animal holding facilties; an ambient environment to replicate aquatic systems for experimental work under natural conditions; controlled environments to allow precise control of temperature, photperiod and salinity; a culture area with optimal conditions for rearing algae and zooplankton.
